education 1No Excuses University (NEU) Scholarship Fund

We are delighted to announce the launching of the No Excuses University (NEU) Scholarship Fund which was created in October 2016 to support college education for the children of Casa de Mi Familia (CDMF). With the encouragement and gracious donation made by the NEU President, Damen Lopez and his wife Lara, this fund will ensure that our children seeking higher education can do so without financial concerns. Where the Heart Is Children’s Ministry is committed to actively promoting“college-readiness” and, with the united support of NEU leaders, we have the opportunity to change the cycle of poverty through education! Additional thanks to Dan Lopez for logo T-shirts and NEU’s bold Leadership… this is an amazing blessing for the children of Casa de mi Familia! As Damen states in his book, “it is time to leave procrastination to the status quo…” and “embrace our share of responsibility for the academic achievements of our students, no matter their circumstances. You can join us in making a contribution to the children’s future by donating on our sponsorship page!

Neftali

It has been a joy to watch Neftali grow into a wonderful young man with Christian values, impressive musical talent and natural leadership abilities.  Neftali’s dream was to continue his education and God answered his prayers. In February 2016 he entered the local university as a communication major with the financial support of Travis and Amber Owens, SOW Ministries.

noemi

Noemi

Noemi first arrived at the orphanage in 2004, the oldest of three siblings. She graduated from high school in June 2015 and immediately pursued her dream to become a nurse. She is currently in her 3rd year of nursing school which requires that she rise at 4:30 am to travel across Tijuana via bus and taxi to reach her school. In addition, she is completing her practicum at a local hospital. Evenings and weekends are spent studying with a focus on her future… but, she also finds time to provide support and love to her family, Casa de mi Familia. She is fortunate to have her college expenses paid by two dedicated donors.
